On Friday 4th August the branch social skittlers took to the alley at The Somerset Arms for their first match of the season. The opposition came from the Gloucester sub branch.
Unfortunately, the match resulted in a narrow loss for the plucky Cheltenham scratch team (by about 12 points). As it turned out, Gloucester had 9 and we had 15 skittles players so we opted for a 12 a side match (if we had not have been such good sports we might have won!). Branch Chair, John Crossley top scored for us with a credible 40.
The Somerset Arms proved a good venue – nice food, 5 real ales and a real cider were available. We collected about an extra £15 which we gave to their chosen charity.
We are looking for exciting new talent for our next match which will be against North Cotswolds on 10th November at the Charlton Kings Club. So come along if you are free.
