Paul Cook the owner of Cheltenham’s first micro pub, The Angry Parrot, has decided to call time on the venture.  Due to the impacts of the current cost of living crisis the micropub will be pouring its last pint on 24th December.

The pub had a difficult start to life opening in March 2020 and then having to close just 10 days later as a result of the first covid lockdown.  Since reopening after covid the micropub has provided a welcome addition to Cheltenham’s real ale scene serving both cask and keg ales in a friendly environment and has established a regular clientele.  The pub made it in to the recent 50th edition of the Good Beer Guide and was runner up in the Cheltenham CAMRA pub of the year competition in 2022.  However rising costs and people’s reducing disposable incomes mean that Paul can no longer afford to run the business at a loss.

Cheltenham CAMRA wish Paul, and his partner Jo, all the best for the future.
